Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort is a ring-shaped skyscraper with 27 floors reaching 102 meters high near Taihu Lake. The building contains multiple restaurants, conference spaces, and extensive spa facilities with direct access to natural hot springs.
Construction began on 18 May 2008 and the hotel was completed on 28 September 2012, with a total investment of about 1.5 billion yuan and a floor area of 64,700 square metres. Designed by Ma Yansong and built by the Shanghai Feizhou Group, it won third place at the 2013 Emporis Skyscraper Awards.
Locals call it the "Horseshoe Hotel", "Doughnut Hotel" or "Moon Hotel" because of its torus shape. The 27-storey building stands directly on Lake Tai in Huzhou's South Taihu area, and its ring profile is meant to be read against the water. It is a franchise of the Sheraton chain, owned by Marriott International.
The resort provides direct access to natural hot springs and multiple swimming pools with specialized treatment rooms for wellness experiences. Guests can enjoy facilities designed specifically around the thermal resources available in this region.
The ring-shaped structure creates an optical effect when reflected in Taihu Lake waters, making the building appear to form a complete circle. This reflection phenomenon is especially visible at different times of day and light conditions.
