Cheung Chun Yuen

Cheung Chun Yuen is a rectangular building with traditional Chinese architectural features, including distinctive curved roofs and carved stone details throughout its facade. The structure displays classical design elements with elaborate decorative work on its roof eaves and wall surfaces.

The Tang clan built this structure in the 17th century originally as an educational facility for students preparing for Imperial Civil Service Examinations. Its purpose evolved over time to emphasize ancestral veneration and family gatherings.

This hall continues to serve the Tang clan as a gathering place for ancestral worship, where ceremonies honoring forebears take place throughout the year.

The building is open to visitors during daytime hours, with group visits requiring advance notice to protect the historic structure. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time to examine the stone carvings and architectural details throughout the interior and exterior.

White stones in the forecourt led to students being called 'Students of White Stone Lane,' creating a special identity for those who studied there. This name set them apart and fostered a strong sense of belonging among the learners who passed through the halls.
