Bad Saarow, Health resort municipality in Brandenburg, Germany.
Bad Saarow sits along the shore of Scharmützel Lake and spreads across several districts with clinics and residential areas. The municipality covers 52 square kilometers (20 square miles) and combines medical facilities with walking paths beside the water.
The town received the official title Bad in 1923 after doctors documented the healing properties of the salt springs. Several clinics and bathing facilities appeared around the Catharinenquelle over the following decades.
The Catharinenquelle provides salt-rich water to several clinics where doctors work with thermal baths and movement therapy for recovery. Visitors often stay for several days during the week, combining medical treatments with walking paths around the lake.
The railway station connects the town regularly with Berlin and Frankfurt Oder, taking about an hour each way. Most clinics concentrate along the lakeshore and can be reached on foot.
The natural thermal baths keep the salt water between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius (93 and 97 degrees Fahrenheit) year round. Many guests use the outdoor pools in winter when steam rises over the water and the lake beside freezes.
