Munich Airport, Commercial airport in Hallbergmoos and Oberding, Germany.
The facility extends across 1,575 hectares between Hallbergmoos and Oberding, featuring two passenger terminals and a midfield terminal that process millions of travelers annually. The complex is divided into several areas, including arrival and departure halls, connecting corridors, and a central building with shops and restaurants.
The German government inaugurated this facility on May 17, 1992, as a replacement for Munich-Riem to meet increasing passenger demands in Bavaria. In the following decades, the site underwent multiple expansions to accommodate growing international air traffic requirements.
The airport center transforms into a traditional Bavarian winter market from November through December, presenting regional crafts and seasonal specialties. Travelers here experience wooden stalls and local products that offer insight into Bavarian traditions.
Travelers reach the facility via the A92 motorway or regular S-Bahn trains S1 and S8, which connect directly to Munich Central Station in 40 minutes. Signage throughout the complex guides visitors to gates, baggage claim, and transfer areas.
The site houses Airbräu, a working brewery and restaurant that produces fresh beer on-site, making it the first facility in the world with this feature. Passengers can sample beer brewed directly within the departure halls.
