Weserstadion, Association football stadium in Östliche Vorstadt, Germany.
Weserstadion is an association football venue in Östliche Vorstadt, Bremen, Germany, positioned along the northern shore of the Weser River. Four office towers rise behind the northern section of the ground, forming part of the complex skyline.
The facility opened in 1947 and initially served both football and athletics competitions. Workers removed the running track in 2002 and lowered the pitch to bring spectators closer to the action on the field.
Home supporters gather in the north curve on match days, singing and displaying coordinated banners to back their side. The venue takes its name from the nearby river that shapes the local geography and gives the ground its waterfront character.
The ground sits well connected to tram and bus lines, making public transport the easiest option for reaching the site. Stands hold up to 42500 people for domestic fixtures, and several food counters are spread throughout the facility.
The outer facade carries photovoltaic installations that convert sunlight into electrical power and contribute to the building energy supply. This integration of renewable technology combines sporting use with ecological electricity generation on the same site.
