This 22-hectare zoological park contains over 3,000 animals representing 230 species across seven immersive themed areas that replicate global habitats.

Founded in May 1865 through private funding, Hanover Zoo stands as Germany's fifth-oldest zoological institution, later experiencing major renovations in the 1990s.

The zoo includes Meyer's Farm, which showcases rural Lower Saxony traditions through architecture, gastronomy, and agricultural demonstrations.

Visitors can access the zoo daily between 9:00 and 18:30, with tickets available at multiple price points and complete wheelchair accessibility throughout the grounds.

The Zambezi section provides an African experience where guests observe flamingos, Rothschild giraffes, rhinos, and zebras in naturalistic enclosures without visible barriers.
