Bremerhaven Zoo, Coastal zoological park in Bremerhaven, Germany.
The Zoo am Meer spans 1.2 hectares along the Weser River, housing 292 animals from 56 species in specialized habitats focused on northern and aquatic wildlife.
The institution originated in 1912 as the North Sea Aquarium in the Strandhalle cellar, evolving through multiple developments until its 2004 transformation into Zoo am Meer.
The zoo maintains partnerships with WAZA, EAZA, and the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation while conducting educational programs about species preservation and marine ecosystems.
Visitors can observe daily feeding sessions and access the facility from 9:00 to 19:00 during summer months, with shorter hours during winter and special holiday schedules.
The facility features nine North Sea aquarium tanks containing regional marine life, including cat sharks, sea wolves, seahorses, and octopuses behind floor-to-ceiling glass panels.
