Stadtlohn

Stadtlohn is a town in the Borken district consisting of nine districts spread across gently rolling terrain. The Berkel River runs through the area and shapes the local landscape.

The town witnessed a major battle in 1623 between opposing forces that helped shape the region's future. This conflict remains a significant chapter in local history.

Saint Otger Church stands at the heart of town and reflects how the community rebuilt after wartime damage. This building remains a focal point where residents gather and which anchors the local sense of place.

From 1742 until 1886, people made pilgrimages to a Mary statue in a local chapel before it was stolen. This lost tradition left traces in local memory and stories that residents still recall.
