Gescher

Gescher is an urban municipality in Borken district, North Rhine-Westphalia, located just a few kilometers from the Dutch border. The town contains several museums that document local traditions, crafts, and the broader history of the region.

A devastating fire in 1570 destroyed much of the settlement and forced residents to rebuild extensively. The following decades were marked by raids from border bandits, which significantly hampered the town's development.
