Lotte

Lotte is a local government area in Steinfurt district, North Rhine-Westphalia, positioned along the northern edge of the Teutoburg Forest. The territory is divided into five separate districts that spread across gently rolling countryside with mixed agricultural land and residential zones.

The current territory took shape through administrative reforms that merged several smaller settlements into a single municipal structure. This reorganization placed the area within Steinfurt district and created the present administrative arrangement.

The five districts of Lotte - Bueren, Wersen, Halen, Alt Lotte, and Osterberg - maintain strong connections through local events and community activities.

The area sits roughly ten kilometers west of Osnabrück and connects to surrounding towns through regional roads. Visitors can explore the different districts by following local cycling paths or driving through the village roads.

The local football club Sportfreunde Lotte reached the quarterfinals of the national cup competition in 2017, playing against several top-tier clubs. The small stadium in one of the districts briefly became a venue drawing attention from across the country during those matches.
