Schloss Hugenpoet, Medieval castle in Essen, Germany.

The stone castle consists of three connected buildings surrounded by moats, featuring a grand entrance portal with heraldic shields from 1872.

First recorded in 778 as a royal property of Charlemagne, the castle underwent reconstruction between 1647 and 1696 following damage during the Thirty Years' War.

The castle displays Renaissance architecture elements through its design by architects August Lange and Theodor Freyse, incorporating local building traditions.

Located at August-Thyssen-Straße 51A in Essen, the castle operates as a hotel with 36 rooms and suites, including restaurant services from Wednesday to Saturday.

The property maintains the original moat system and includes the Ustinov Suite, named after the actor Peter Ustinov who frequently stayed at the castle.
