Schwabing, Historic residential district in northern Munich, Germany

Located north of the Siegestor, Schwabing extends along Leopoldstrasse, featuring a mix of Art Nouveau buildings and modern developments across its streets.

During the 1900s, Schwabing transformed from a village into an intellectual center, attracting artists like Wassily Kandinsky and writers such as Thomas Mann.

The district houses the Walking Man sculpture by Jonathan Borofsky on Leopoldstrasse, while numerous art galleries showcase contemporary German artists.

Hohenzollernstrasse and Feilitzschstrasse offer numerous shops, restaurants, and cafes, connected by efficient public transportation through multiple U-Bahn stations.

The Alte Simpl restaurant preserves artifacts from the 1900s bohemian period, when artists gathered there to discuss and critique societal norms.
