Schlehdorf Abbey, Benedictine monastery in Schlehdorf, Germany
The religious complex stands at the northern edge of the Bavarian Alps near Kochelsee lake, featuring Baroque architectural elements and dedicated buildings.
Founded around 760 from Benediktbeuern Abbey, the monastery received the relics of Saint Tertullinus from its first abbot Atto in 769.
The monastery transformed from Benedictine to Augustinian, and since 1904 functions as a Dominican convent with approximately 60 sisters in residence.
The abbey includes a guesthouse, shop, and secondary school operated by the diocese of Munich and Freising for educational purposes.
After destruction during Hungarian invasions in the 9th century, the monastery remained silent until its revival as an Augustinian establishment in 1140.
