Klettergebiet Kochel, Climbing area in Kochel, Germany
The climbing region near Kochelsee contains more than 500 routes and an equal number of boulders spread across 30 limestone walls.
Local climbers including Toni Lamprecht, Thomas Bucher, and Stefan Glowacz developed numerous routes in this area since the late 1980s.
The Afrika Wall, established in 1988, stands as the second largest climbing wall in Kochel with routes ranging from UIAA grades 7 to 11.
Climbers require a 60-meter single rope and 12 quickdraws to navigate the routes, which are accessible from spring through autumn.
The Atlantis Wall features over 80 routes through partially overhanging rock formations, including some of the most demanding 9a grade climbs in the region.
