„Zum Riesen“, Renaissance hotel in Miltenberg, Germany.
The historic Zum Riesen building features detailed woodwork, symmetrical design elements, and classic proportions that represent Renaissance architectural traditions from the 16th century.
The establishment dates back to 1411 when Trestam zum Riesen registered as landlord, making it one of the earliest documented hotels still operating in Germany.
The building served as temporary residence for two Holy Roman Emperors, Frederick Barbarossa and Charles IV, along with military leaders during the Thirty Years War.
Located at Hauptstrasse 97 in central Miltenberg, the hotel contains 18 rooms and maintains a restaurant with seating for 190 guests.
In 1590, architect Jacob Stoer led a reconstruction project using 100 logs donated by the city council to create the current Renaissance structure.
