Palace Staufeneck, Medieval castle in Piding, Germany

The stone palace rises from its hilltop location, featuring traditional Bavarian architectural elements with massive walls and defense towers on each corner.

The fortress, built in the 12th century by the Burggrafen von Staufeneck, underwent major modifications under Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach in 1503.

The palace grounds host an annual medieval market each August since 2005, where visitors experience traditional crafts and regional customs.

The palace remains privately owned since 1894 and maintains regular opening hours for visitors who wish to explore its architectural features.

The structure served as one of the maintenance courts in Rupertiwinkel from 1365 to 1805 under the control of Erzstift Salzburg.
