Vohwinkel

Vohwinkel is a western district of Wuppertal featuring mixed-use areas with residential neighborhoods, industrial facilities, and commercial zones. Various transportation networks including trams, buses, and railway lines efficiently connect these different areas throughout the district.

The area developed as an independent municipality before being administratively merged with Wuppertal in 1929. This incorporation marked the end of its political independence and integration into the expanding city structure.

The railway station displays early 20th-century Art Nouveau features that reflect the area's identity as an industrial hub. Visitors can still see these architectural details today in the station's entrance design and platform structures.

The station serves as a central transport hub with eight platforms connecting regional express trains and Rhein-Wupper-Bahn railway services. Note that the station also connects to Wuppertal's suspension railway network and has multiple bus stops nearby for easy access to other areas.

Vohwinkel station is one of the few stops where the suspension railway network physically connects with traditional rail infrastructure at a single point. This arrangement came about because the station sits at an intersection of multiple rail lines, requiring a special technical solution.
