Hansaplatz metro station, Underground station in Hansaviertel district, Germany
The Hansaplatz station features aluminum-clad support pillars and silver-gray glass tiles covering the walls along its 9.1-meter-wide central platform.
The station structure was completed in 1957 during the International Building Exhibition, yet regular metro service commenced on August 28, 1961.
A memorial plaque at the southern exit displays names of 1,030 Jewish residents from Hansaviertel who faced deportation during the National Socialist period.
The station connects to bus line 106 and includes an elevator installed in 2017 at the Grips Theater exit for complete step-free access.
During the 1957 construction exhibition, a Volkswagen Beetle pulled visitors through an underground construction tunnel between Hansaplatz and Zoologischer Garten stations.
