Barclays Arena, Multi-purpose arena in Bahrenfeld district, Hamburg, Germany.
Barclays Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Bahrenfeld district of Hamburg that holds up to 15,000 spectators. The building measures 492 feet (150 meters) in length, 361 feet (110 meters) in width and reaches 108 feet (33 meters) in height, with a large oval main hall and surrounding seating tiers.
The hall opened in November 2002 after a construction phase financed by Finnish entrepreneur Harry Harkimo and Hamburg city authorities. It was built on a former industrial site in Bahrenfeld and replaced older smaller venues in the city.
The name recalls a partnership with a British bank that has held naming rights since 2015, its branding visible at the entrance. Visitors come year-round for concerts by international artists, handball tournaments and major gaming competitions that draw fans from across Europe.
Access is designed for wheelchairs, with ramps and lifts to all levels and reserved seating for mobility users. Free Wi-Fi is available during events, and signage guides visitors from the nearby train station to the hall.
Billboard ranked the hall sixth globally in 2023 among arenas with capacities up to 15,000 seats. This placement reflects the number of international acts and the quality of technical equipment for concerts and shows.
