Augsburg Railway Park, Railway museum at former train depot, Augsburg, Germany.
Augsburg Railway Park is a museum housed on the grounds of a former maintenance depot in the city. It features historic locomotives, steam engines, and workshop buildings spread across a heritage complex with original structures from the railway era.
The depot was built in 1906 by the Royal Bavarian State Railways to serve as a maintenance facility for locomotives. After World War II, the German federal railways continued to operate the site, but it was eventually shut down around 1990.
The site displays locomotives from different European countries, telling the story of how railway technology developed across borders. Visitors can see how trains brought different regions into connection through a shared transportation system.
The museum is open from May through October on Sundays, with guided tours available through the locomotive halls and workshops. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes as the grounds are large and tours involve walking through an outdoor heritage site.
A 300-meter miniature railway runs through the grounds where visitors can actually ride along. This small-scale track offers a hands-on way to experience train travel and see how locomotives operate in miniature form.
