Michaelsberg Abbey, Siegburg, Benedictine abbey on Michaelsberg hill in Siegburg, Germany

The monastery buildings and church stand 40 meters above Siegburg, with the prominent tower marking the city's distinct skyline profile.

Archbishop Anno II of Cologne established the Benedictine monastery in 1064, which operated until 1803, and then resumed activities from 1914 to 2011.

The abbey houses the Catholic Social Institute and maintains a collection of religious artifacts, including the Anno shrine containing the founder's remains.

The Saint Michael Church within the abbey complex remains accessible to visitors daily from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM throughout the year.

The subterranean church features 12 original columns from 1066, while the current structure combines Romanesque foundations with post-war architectural elements.
