Hochhaus Uptown München, Corporate skyscraper in Moosach, Germany
Hochhaus Uptown München is an office building with 38 above-ground floors and three underground levels that rises 146 meters high. The facade is glass-enclosed and encompasses a total of 50,200 square meters of office space.
Construction of this 300-million-euro project ran from 2001 to 2004 using designs by architectural firm Ingenhoven Architects. The development marked a turning point in Munich's debate over vertical urban growth.
The building prompted a city-wide vote in 2004 about height limits for new constructions in Munich's central areas.
The building houses office space with Telefónica Europe as the main tenant and is reachable on foot or by public transport from Moosach. Visitors should be aware this is a private workplace and access may be restricted.
Circular ventilation openings in the glass facade allow natural airflow and outside sound to reach upper floors. This integrated design feature was an innovative solution for the work environment during planning.
