The castle features a central tower, water moat, and five-hectare park, standing as a prominent structure in the North Frisian district of Schleswig-Holstein.
Duke Adolf of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf commissioned the construction of this castle between 1577 and 1582 on the former site of a Grey Monastery.
The castle houses the Stiftung Nordfriesland cultural office, a puppet theater museum, and the district music school, offering diverse cultural programs throughout the year.
The castle welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with adult tickets priced at 7 euros and family passes at 15 euros.
The castle grounds contain a park that transforms into a purple field during the annual spring crocus bloom, drawing numerous visitors to this natural display.
