Advent in den Höfen

Advent in den Höfen is a Christmas market spread across roughly twenty private courtyards in Quedlinburg, each with its own vendors and offerings. These spaces feature handcrafted decorations, seasonal food items, and traditional goods from various sellers.

The tradition developed from winter preparation gatherings in the Harz region, where communities met before the Christmas season. This practice eventually evolved into the current event held within the city's medieval courtyards.

Local craftspeople display handmade ornaments, textiles, and decorative pieces throughout the courtyards, reflecting the region's tradition of skilled handiwork. Visitors witness these artisans sharing their techniques within spaces that have been part of the community for generations.

The market runs during the first three Advent weekends and spreads across multiple courtyards connected by clear signage. Designated eating areas and restroom facilities are available throughout the grounds, making it easy to walk between the different indoor spaces.
