Westfalenhallen, Event complex in Innenstadt-West, Germany
Westfalenhallen is an event complex in Innenstadt-West, Dortmund, Germany, with several buildings for concerts, trade fairs, and conventions. Three connected halls and smaller rooms spread across the site with large foyers and outdoor areas.
Walter Höltje designed this building in the early 1950s, and the first halls opened in 1952 after postwar reconstruction. The city later granted heritage protection to the original structures for their architectural importance.
The main hall welcomes concerts, sporting events, and exhibitions, while the smaller spaces accommodate congresses and specialist shows. Visitors come here for classical music, pop performances, ballet, and handball matches throughout the year.
The complex sits in the western part of the city center and has several entrances depending on the event and hall. Parking is available on site, and the walkways between halls are short and easy to navigate.
The building is one of the protected monuments of North Rhine-Westphalia and shows postwar architecture with clean lines. Some European exhibitions like JAGD & HUND and InterTabac take place here every year.
