Schrobenhausen, Medieval town in Bavaria, Germany

Schrobenhausen is a town in Bavaria positioned between Ingolstadt and Augsburg, situated along the Paar River at approximately 411 meters in elevation. The center features medieval structures alongside modern industrial facilities that define its contemporary character.

The town appears first in church records around 790 as Scropinhusen and suffered severe destruction from Hungarian raids in the 10th century. Despite these early setbacks, it grew into a significant settlement in the region.

The town has deep roots in agriculture, particularly asparagus cultivation that shapes the region's identity. This connection to farming traditions remains visible in local customs and seasonal celebrations today.

The town is easily accessible by road and serves as a good base for exploring the surrounding region. As a residential area with industrial importance, the center offers shops and services for visitors.

From April through June, the town gains recognition across Germany for its white asparagus grown under specific conditions that draws regional festival visitors. The Gritschen Brewery building dating to 1593 illustrates how long craft traditions have been rooted here.
