Abbaye du Staffelsee, Benedictine monastery on Worth Island, Seehausen am Staffelsee, Germany.
The Staffelsee Abbey stands on an island within Lake Staffelsee, surrounded by the waters of Upper Bavaria's largest lake system.
Founded around 740 by the noble Huosi brothers Waldram, Eliland, and Landfrid, the monastery received consecration from Saint Boniface in 742.
The Staffelsee Inventory, created during Charlemagne's reign, documents the monastery's extensive agricultural holdings and economic activities in the Carolingian period.
Archaeological excavations conducted between 1985 and 1992 revealed foundations of the church structure and monastery boundaries on Worth Island.
The monastery maintained 42 tributary farms and possessed 740 morgen of land according to the detailed inventory from 811.
