Peißenberg

Peißenberg is a market municipality in the Weilheim-Schongau district of Upper Bavaria, situated on gently rolling terrain at around 580 meters elevation. The area encompasses several small villages and scattered settlements connected through forests and meadows typical of the Bavarian countryside.

The area had medieval settlements, but official status as a market municipality came only in 1919. This establishment represented an important administrative change for local development in the Weilheim-Schongau region.

The municipality maintains international connections through its partnership with Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, facilitating regular exchanges between German and French communities.

The municipality has good train connections through two railway stations with hourly service toward Augsburg. Visitors can easily arrive by train and explore the surrounding landscape on foot or by bicycle.

A small airfield in the Paterzell area hosts a glider club whose members have repeatedly won national aerobatic championships. These achievements have made the municipality notable in aviation circles.
