Cadolzburg, Market municipality in Fürth district, Germany
Cadolzburg is a market municipality in Middle Franconia with 16 districts spread across rolling terrain. A historic castle forms the old center, while the municipality extends across gently sloping landscape to an elevation of 352 meters.
The settlement grew around the castle beginning in 1157 as a strategic location in the region. From 1260 onwards, the castle served as a residence for the Burgraves of Nuremberg, bringing importance and prosperity to the area.
The Markgrafenkirche St. Cäcilia displays Baroque design with artworks from the late 15th century that reflect local religious life. The building itself shows how faith shaped the community over time and remains a gathering place for residents.
The municipality is connected by a network of regional buses, with the main station located in the town center. The scattered layout of multiple districts means visitors may need to use different connections depending on where they want to go.
A wooden observation tower built in 1893, known locally as the pencil, rises 25 meters high and offers views across the Franconian landscape. This distinctive tower has long drawn visitors and remains a landmark that defines the townscape.
