Annenkapelle is a Gothic church building in Görlitz featuring pointed arches and ribbed stone vaults typical of the style. Its exterior displays carved stone figures, including Saint Anne and Mary with child, which showcase the craftsmanship of its original construction.
Construction began in 1508 under master builder Albrecht Stieglitzer, commissioned by merchant Hans Frenzel as a memorial chapel. The project faced unexpected difficulties when workers uncovered an old filled-in water ditch during the building process.
The chapel is closely connected to the adjacent Annenschule and now serves as a gathering space for school events. Inside, both students and visitors experience how the religious space has been repurposed to support education and community activities.
The chapel is located at Annengasse 4 near Marienplatz in the historical center of Görlitz. This location makes it easy for visitors to access the building while exploring the medieval streets and squares of the old town.
