Antonipark, Public park in St. Pauli and Altona-Altstadt, Germany.
Antonipark is a public green space between Hamburg's St. Pauli and Altona-Altstadt districts. It offers various recreation zones including a dog area, play spaces, and an observation platform on a building roof with artificial palm trees and specially designed grass areas.
In 1994, residents and artists united to protect the last open space near the harbor from development. The park was realized in 2005 after the community had contributed their ideas and wishes.
The park shows how residents shape their neighborhood through art and shared spaces where people gather regularly. The colored tartan field and Tea Island platform serve as meeting points for community activities.
The park is easily accessed at the boundary between two districts and features clearly separated zones for different uses. You can bring dogs, children, or simply rest on the designed grass areas during a visit.
Residents originally contributed ideas through a container placed on the construction site, which shaped the project significantly. This unusual participation process led to the distinctive garden spaces visible in the park today.
