Park Fiction, Art project and public park in Altona-Altstadt, Germany.
Park Fiction is an art project and public green space in Altona designed through collective planning processes and artistic installations. The park combines recreational areas with artistic elements while also serving as an exhibition and event space.
The project began in 1995 to prevent private development and grew into a decade-long citizen movement fighting for public space. This campaign resulted in securing and reshaping the site according to local community wishes.
The space came into being through collaboration between residents, artists, and institutions who together shaped a place reflecting community identity. Visitors can still see how this participatory approach influences how the space looks and is used today.
The park is open to visitors and offers space for relaxing and exploring artistic installations. Regular community events take place here, giving good reason to visit at different times throughout the year.
The name was changed to Gezi Park Fiction in 2015 to express solidarity with social movements in Turkey. This renaming shows how this place engages with and reflects international civic concerns.
