Eilsum Church, Romanesque church in Eilsum, Germany
The church stands 40 meters in length with a rectangular tower positioned on the eastern end, featuring two-storey facades with blind arcades.
Built around 1230 during a period when Eilsum functioned as a trading center connected to the sea through a bay that later filled with silt.
The interior walls contain late Romanesque paintings from 1240, created using secco techniques on dried plaster to represent biblical figures.
The church underwent renovations in 1993, including the installation of a glass partition between the choir and nave to reduce heating expenses.
The bronze baptismal font from 1472 rests upon four evangelist figures, demonstrating medieval craftsmanship techniques.
