Gedenkstein Karlstein

Gedenkstein Karlstein is a stone monument located between Endersbach and Strümpfelbach districts at roughly 430 meters elevation. The site features views across the Remstal valley and includes grilling areas, seating, tables, and a children's play area.

Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg resolved boundary disputes between the two communities peacefully in 1793. An original memorial stone was placed then, with a replacement stone featuring an updated inscription added in 1973.

The inscription on the stone recalls the duke's role in settling woodland disputes peacefully between neighboring communities. Visitors can read this local history directly at the site, which marks where two districts found resolution.

The site is easy to reach on foot and offers plenty of space to spend time with family or friends. The facilities here are well-maintained and allow for various outdoor activities.

A local group called Friends of Karlstein maintains the stone and organizes a gathering on New Year's morning each year. This tradition has endured for decades and shows how the monument remains connected to the community.
