Weinstadt, Wine producing town in Rems-Murr district, Germany
Weinstadt is a municipality in the Rems-Murr district composed of five distinct districts scattered throughout a valley with hillside vineyards covering the slopes. The landscape is shaped by rows of grapevines that dominate the surrounding hills and define the character of the area.
The five villages of Beutelsbach, Endersbach, Großheppach, Strümpfelbach, and Schnait united in 1975 to form the municipality of Weinstadt. This merger combined formerly independent communities under a single administration.
The Remstalkellerei cooperative in Beutelsbach brings together local grape growers who produce wines together using regional varieties. Visitors can observe how winemaking connects the community and shapes daily life in the surrounding villages.
The area is well connected by bus lines and the Remsbahn railway, with direct links to Stuttgart and neighboring towns. The region is easily accessible by car through the main transportation routes that run through the valley.
Beutelsbach hosted a Stanford University campus from 1958 to 1976, and its buildings now operate as the Landgut Burg hotel and conference center. This remnant of Cold War-era international cooperation still stands as a reminder of that unusual period.
