Sillenbuch, Residential district in Stuttgart, Germany
Sillenbuch is a district in Stuttgart comprising three neighborhoods: the central Sillenbuch, Heumaden, and Riedenberg. They sit on the Filder Plateau and are characterized by residential areas with gardens.
Sillenbuch was first recorded in 1264 as a farming village built on fruit growing, grain cultivation, and wine production. The area was later developed as a Stuttgart residential quarter in the 20th century.
The Heumaden church shows medieval architecture preserved from centuries past. You can see the character of a traditional Swabian village center even though the area now functions as a residential neighborhood.
Light rail lines U7, U8, and U15 connect the district to Stuttgart city center, along with several bus routes. The area is flat and easy to explore on foot, with streets running through residential areas and green spaces.
The Eichenhain nature reserve on the western edge of Riedenberg holds hundreds of old oak trees forming a rare forest ecosystem. This woodland provides a contrast to the residential buildings surrounding it.
