Ballhaus Watzke, Heritage brewery and inn in Mickten, Dresden, Germany
The Ballhaus Watzke stands at the corner of Leipziger Straße and Kötzschenbroderstraße and features neoclassical architecture with painted ceiling decorations. The building houses a large hall for up to 770 guests, plus a brewery and restaurant.
The site began as a peasant shed in 1790 and developed into a spirits distillery in 1804 under Gottlob Wilhelm Hübner, who later converted it to a brewery. This transformation made the place an important business in the region.
The name refers to the grand ballroom that has served as the center of Dresden's social life for generations. People gather here for dances, concerts, and celebrations as they have for decades.
The facility offers parking for about 70 vehicles and several buses, making it easy to arrive by car. Visitors can eat and drink throughout the day, with opening times varying by weekday.
Several pairs of falcons have built nests in the building's dome windows and have been a fixture there for years. Visitors often spot these birds while sitting on the terrace and enjoying their meal.
