Bartholomäusturm, Gothic tower at Anger 51, Erfurt, Germany
The Bartholomäusturm rises prominently between Weitergasse and Grafengasse streets, featuring a hexagonal spire and Gothic architectural elements from the medieval period.
The tower, first mentioned in 1182, underwent multiple reconstructions, including a significant rebuild in 1412 and the addition of its hexagonal spire in 1468.
The tower contains a carillon of 60 bronze bells installed in 1979, with the largest bell weighing 2,393 kilograms and the smallest 10 kilograms.
The carillon performs daily at 10:00, 12:00, and 18:00, with special concerts during Advent Saturdays at 16:00 featuring traditional melodies.
The tower suffered artillery damage in April 1945 during the American troops' arrival, leaving it without its high hood until its restoration in 1979.
