Sparkasse am Fischmarkt, Financial administrative building in Fischmarkt, Erfurt, Germany
The Sparkasse building combines modern architecture with regional materials, featuring limestone plates and artificial stone on its lower floors and projecting upper levels.
Between 1934 and 1935, architects Gustav Schweizer and Karl Heinrich Müller constructed the building following Johannes Klass's design, replacing a former district court.
The building's facade incorporated sculptures by Hans Walther and frescoes by Luise Klempt depicting themes of gardening, crafts, and industry.
The financial center operates Monday through Friday with extended service hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 18:00, offering banking consultations and digital assistance.
In 1936, the basement level contained a memorial hall dedicated to 3,579 Erfurt citizens who died during World War I.
