Michaeliskirche, Gothic church building in central Erfurt, Germany
The Michaeliskirche stands as a Gothic hall church with a late-Romanesque tower, northern side nave, galleries, and a Trinity Chapel in Erfurt's historical center.
The church construction began in 1183 through patrician donations, with major Gothic additions between 1278 and 1290 under Pastor Heinrich Bauso's direction.
Martin Luther attended services during his studies from 1501 to 1505 and delivered a sermon here in 1522, marking the church's role in Protestant history.
The church hosts regular musical performances on Saturdays, including vespers and concerts, while offering space for choir and orchestra rehearsals throughout the year.
The church tower contains the Katharina bell from 1380, making it the oldest bell in Erfurt still in regular use.
