Baumsche Fabrik, Industrial heritage monument in Elberfeld, Wuppertal, Germany.
Baumsche Fabrik is an industrial complex in Elberfeld stretching from Hofaue street along Bembergstrasse to the Wupper river. The structures display early 20th-century industrial architecture and now house offices, design agencies, and business services of various kinds.
The complex was founded in 1883 and began producing men's and women's clothing in large quantities. The site was later expanded with additional buildings in 1913 and again in 1923 to meet growing production needs.
The complex is named after its founding family and recalls the era when textile manufacturing shaped the city's economy. Today, its use by modern offices and design firms shows how the region moved from industrial production to new professional services.
Access to the site is possible during business hours of the companies located there, as the grounds now function as a modern business location. Visitors should note that they are on private property and should respect designated pathways.
The complex suffered significant damage during the Second World War but was carefully restored to its current state. This restoration demonstrates how historic industrial buildings can be successfully adapted for modern use while retaining their architectural character.
