Schluchsee

The Schluchsee extends over 7.3 kilometers in length and 1.4 kilometers in width, reaching a maximum depth of 61 meters at 930 meters elevation.

Between 1929 and 1932, engineers constructed a 63.5-meter-high dam with a length of 250 meters to transform the natural glacial lake into a reservoir.

The Schluchsee area gained national attention in 1982 when the German national football team established their training camp near its shores before the World Cup.

The lake perimeter features an 18-kilometer pathway suitable for walking and strolling, connecting multiple access points for swimming and water activities.

During maintenance periods when water levels decrease, visitors can observe the foundations of submerged settlements that existed before the dam construction.
