Gentzrode

Gentzrode is a Moorish revival mansion in Neuruppin featuring ornate architectural details throughout. The estate includes a granary designed by Carl von Diebitch, gardens planned by Gustav Meyer, and multiple additional structures spread across the property.

The mansion was built between 1876 and 1877 by architects Martin Gropius and Heino Schmieden. Financial difficulties arose shortly after completion due to the substantial construction expenses required for the project.

The mansion draws from architectural styles inspired by southern regions, visible in its ornate decorations and spatial design. Visitors can see these influences reflected throughout the building's interior and exterior details.

The site spreads across a large area with multiple buildings located at various points. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for uneven or overgrown ground conditions.

The estate was built by a textile manufacturer and later served as a military installation with ammunition storage and tank division facilities. This military use left visible marks across the entire property.
