Biorama Project, Observation tower in Joachimsthal, Germany.
The Biorama Project is a converted water tower with a 21-meter-high observation platform built from brick and concrete in the Schorfheide-Chorin region. The platform offers 360-degree views across the surrounding landscape and forests of the biosphere.
The original water tower dates from the region's infrastructure development period and was fundamentally transformed around 2006 into a nature experience center. This conversion preserved the old structure while giving it a new purpose.
The location reflects the region's commitment to nature conservation through exhibitions and events held regularly on site. Visitors experience how local initiatives and art projects raise awareness about the biosphere.
Reaching the platform requires climbing stairs, so visitors should expect a moderate physical effort. Clear weather days are best for visiting, as rain can significantly reduce visibility.
On clear days, visitors can see roughly 50 kilometers in all directions, including to Berlin's Television Tower and the Polish border. These distant vistas create a memorable experience when conditions align.
