Schaumburg Castle, Lower Saxony, Medieval castle in Rinteln, Germany
The stone fortress stands on an elevated position within the Calenberger Bergland region, providing views across the Lower Saxony landscape.
The castle transferred to the Hohenzollerns in 1866 during the Austro-Prussian War when George William, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe, aligned with Austrian forces.
The residence maintains its connection to German nobility as the current property of Alexander, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe, head of the ancestral family.
Visitors can access the castle grounds throughout all hours of the day, with the site located at Burgstraße in the town of Rinteln.
Emperor Wilhelm II presented the castle as a silver wedding anniversary gift to George, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe in 1907.
