The garden extends across 13 hectares, featuring distinct sections including tropical houses, desert environments, and regional plant collections from three continents.
Established in 1968 and opened to visitors in 1971, the garden expanded with a tropical house in 1976 and a desert house in 1988.
The Chinese garden Qian Yuan, constructed from 1986 to 1990, incorporates traditional southern Chinese design elements with a central pond.
The garden maintains four large display glasshouses that present different climate zones, from tropical jungles to desert landscapes and Australian environments.
The garden contains 350 species of Euphorbia within its specialized collection, alongside rare cycads and specimens from mountain regions.
