The Medical History Collection at Ruhr University Bochum displays more than 10,000 medical artifacts in a former mine shaft tower on Marktstrasse.
The collection, established in 1970 and transferred to Ruhr University Bochum in the mid-1980s, preserves medical instruments from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The permanent exhibition 'Descent into the Hidden' presents the evolution of medical technology through interactive displays and comprehensive artifact collections.
Visitors can access the museum every Wednesday between 9 AM and 12 PM, except during public holidays, with special exhibition times varying.
The collection includes the Vester pharmaceutical drug collection and a remarkable set of 1,600 medical medals and coins from different periods.
