Wiesental

The Wiesental is a public park in Bochum that stretches like a green corridor along the Marbach River valley, containing walking paths, meadows, and a small pond. The park is designed with various areas, including rest zones and play spaces for visitors of different ages.

The park received an aquarium facility in 1936, which was considered a modern addition at that time. During World War II, the area suffered severe damage from air raids.

The park serves as a meeting place for the local neighborhood, featuring a modern playground with various climbing structures and obstacle courses for children. This area is regularly visited and used by families from the district.

The park has designated areas for walking dogs, numerous benches for resting, and connections to residential neighborhoods in the Bochum-Weitmar district. Visitors should note that the park is most easily accessed through entry points along the surrounding streets.

The site features a large basket swing specifically designed for children with mobility limitations. This swing allows many children to participate in play activities they might otherwise be unable to enjoy.
