Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr, Concert hall in Bochum, Germany.
The Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr is a modern concert hall with two performance spaces of different sizes. The main hall holds approximately 1000 seats, while a smaller room for chamber music accommodates around 250 visitors.
This hall opened in 2016 and incorporates the architecture of a former church as its entrance area. The combination merges the historical building with modern design, creating a new cultural space.
This venue serves as the home base for the Bochumer Symphoniker orchestra and regularly draws music lovers from across the region to its performances. The concerts are woven into the cultural fabric of Bochum and bring together people who enjoy classical music.
The seating is arranged in a vineyard style, creating many spots with good views of the stage. This makes it easier for most visitors to find a good vantage point, regardless of where they sit.
The building was designed by Bez+Kock Architekten and deliberately aligns the modern structure with the nave of the former St. Marien Church. This careful connection between old and new is something you experience spatially as you move through the building.
