Jahrhunderthaus Bochum, Office building in Bochum, Germany
Jahrhunderthaus Bochum is an office building composed of two sections linked by a central glass hall. The facades combine brick and perforated steel panels that create a functional design across the sloping Westpark site.
Completed in 2005, the building serves as the headquarters for IG Metall union. Its material choices reference the region's coal and steel manufacturing heritage from earlier decades.
The building received recognition from BDA Bochum in 2006 for its architectural design, which merges contemporary functionality with industrial heritage elements.
The eastern section contains nine stories of office space, while the western wing has four floors of meeting and event areas. An integrated stairway system helps visitors navigate the seven-meter height difference between street level and park level.
